Each year, SPARC works to provide a memorable holiday season for the hundreds of children, families and seniors living in Millennium Housings low-income mobile home communities. One of these communities, The Copacabana, is home to 173 families located right hear in La Verne.
This is a wonderful time of year but it is also a time of year where many families experience event greater financial difficutlies. You can help change that! By donating gift cards, food or gifts you will make the upcoming holiday events event more special.
As a way of saying thank you, we will mention your generosity in the following ways; in the community magazine that goes to all 173 homes, at the Christmas Dinner attended by over half of our families and on the flyer alerting parents to the kids Christmas Party.
SPARC is an acronym which stands for "Services and Programs Assisting Residents in our Communities." These services and programs have included health resource fairs, after-school enrichment, college scholarships, food programs, exercise classes, holiday assistance programs and a multitude of other health and education related services addressing the specific needs of a given community. SPARC encourages, and takes into consideration, the suggestions given by residents when selecting programs.
SPARC works with 20 affordable housing communities throughout Northern and Southern California. Of the thousands of residents that live in the communities we serve, approximately 80% are lower-income households. These programs can be offered to residents at little to no cost.
In the past year, SPARC and our partners provided an estimated $1.3 million worth of programs and services to mobile home communities.
This holiday season we are collecting gifts to give to kids living at Copacabana MHP. Please bring a new and unwrapped toy to the La Verne Chamber office, all toys collected will go directly to a child living at Copacabana Mobile Home Park.
